Using Your Advisor

last modified 2010-10-01 01:53 PM

Your advisor is a valuable resource. To get the best use of your advisor, check with him or her regularly. Keep them up-to-date on your program and your ideas so they can give informed advice when you need it. Don’t wait for your advisor to contact you.

Here are some ways the advisor can be helpful:

• Advice regarding course selections

• Encouragement

• Answering program or policy questions

• Deciding whether to take a comprehensive exam or complete a capstone project

• Recommendations for committee members on your exam or capstone

• Direction for your capstone project

• Help complete an IRB application

• Pray for you, your studies, and your ministry
