Professor Paul Tess
Having served for over thirty years as a principal and teacher in Lutheran elementary schools, he embraces the ministry of our Lutheran schools and appreciates the work happening in them. He brings an understanding of the spiritual, professional, and personal growth afforded by continuing education for teaching ministers. He is a strong proponent of the “teacher as life-long learner” standard.
He is pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Among his research interests are the use of technology in teacher preparation, the development of the classroom teacher as educational researcher and research consumer, and the challenges and opportunities of connecting neuroscience to education.
Professor Tess grew up in Kiel, Wisconsin, attending Kiel Public Schools through eighth grade and then Manitowoc Lutheran for his high school years. He married Elizabeth (Footh) in 1977. They have five grown children (all married) and five grandchildren. When he isn’t visiting his grandchildren, you may find him in the garden or on the golf course.
