This collection centers around religious children's books published in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The library holds hundreds of rare childrens’ literature books. Some of these came from Northwestern College, which during the 19th century had a teacher education program. Others came from the collections of Dr. Martin Luther College. Others were gifts to the college. The core of the collection centers on religious childrens’ books published by German-American Lutheran publishers, the bulk of those published by the Northwestern Publishing House. Most of these books were published during the last quarter of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century.
