Collaboration
Using a wiki to develop library resources is a way in which to share published content on the Web to our patrons. It is also a way in which our students and patrons can contribute their knowedge of the internet to others. Of course it is the libraries hope that patrons will jump in and become a part of this great collaboration. The goal is to build up a vast array of useful resources put together by our professors, students and patrons.
Now is a good time to introduce a new collaborative tool to our library. New easy to use, low-cost Web publishing sites and information are available on the Internet. The Open-source software ideal is that the quality of the collaborated end product is more important than owning the idea. These tools have made publishing on the Web easy and many internet users are eager to share their content with the world, thus producing many forms of user generated content. As more of our patrons become familiar with the Internet, and Web tools, our hope is that they will share with us educational, reliable, and trustworthy sites that will build MLCAskalibrarian into a resource that is invaluable to our students and patrons.
