How to enable access to your network storage space on your personal computer.
Our Novell network allows you to save documents to storage space on the network and to access them from any MLC computer. Students may install a Novell Client on their personal computer to gain access to their documents from their dorm rooms.
Requirements:
- Your computer must be registered with our network. If you have a working Internet connection, your computer is registered.
- You must check out a Novell Install CD from Network Services. Our office is in WCC 293. Be prepared to show your student ID.
Instructions:
- Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- A Network Services Install screen should automatically appear on your screen. If it does not, go to "My Computer", find your CD-ROM drive, and run "NetInstall.exe".
- Click "Install Client for XP".
- The Novell Client setup program will load. Select "Typical Installation" and follow the prompts given. When the installation is complete, reboot your computer.
- Login for the first time:
- Enter your username and password.
- Click the "Advanced" button.
- On the "NDS" tab make sure that the three drop down list boxes are filled in.
- Tree = MLC
- Context = STU.AC.MLC
- Server = ACAD
- Click OK to login.
- A second login box may appear. This is the login box for your computer. If you normally use a password to access your computer, enter it here. Do NOT check the box that changes your password after a successful login.
