True Contenders
The MLC Knights are a force to contend with in the UMAC. Here are just a few highlights from the 2006-2007 seasons:
Volleyball
Coach of the Year. Player of the Year. Conference Championship. Three first-team All-Conference players and two Honorable Mention players. The MLC volleyball team walked away with almost every honor imaginable in 2006.
Cross Country
Anna Bourman and Tom Moldenhauer nabbed the men's and women's Conference Individual Championships this year, and Bourman was invited to the NCAA National Championships. MLC's men's team just missed out on the Conference Team Championship, an honor they'd held for eight consecutive years.
The Big Picture
At MLC, we know that athletics are not the focus of college life. We stress the “scholar” in scholar-athlete—and it shows. In 2006-2007, for instance, 39 fall athletes and eight winter athletes qualified for academic all-conference honors. No other conference school placed as many players on the list. Our athletes also may participate in music, drama, and other co-curriculars.
Intramurals
If intercollegiate sports aren’t your thing, join the 400+ students (more than half the student body) who play on intramural teams. Try your hand at intramural tennis, indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, bowling, badminton, 3-on-3 basketball, softball, or flag football. Many students find that an 11 p.m. volleyball match is exactly what they need after an evening of studying.
Coaching and Officiating
Many MLC students use their athletic skills in their jobs. Some officiate at grade school and high school games. Many dedicate their time to coaching teams at area WELS, private, and public schools.
Athletic directors seek out our students because they know they will do the job and do it well.
