Baseball Drops Pair to Start Season

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The MLC baseball team opened the season down south with a pair of losses to Ferrum College Friday.

Joel Hering and the Knights lost two games Friday in Fort Pierce

The Knights lost game one 10-2, and then dropped the second game 20-6.

Joe Blum started the first game on the mound for MLC, picking up the loss after going three innings and striking out four. Greg Holzhueter and Galen Holzhueter each had extra base hits at the plate.

In game two, Ryan Schmeling picked up the loss on the mound, but the Knights' bats came alive. Joe Janke and Aaron Stokke each had two a double and single, while Joe Schmudlach finished with two hits as well. Jacob Ziel had two RBI in the game.

Ferrum improved to 8-6 on the season with the wins, while MLC is now 0-2.

The Knights also added a game on its annual spring trip in Florida. They will be playing LaRoche tomorrow (Saturday, March 5) at 8 p.m. at the baseball complex in Fort Pierce.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, March 5). The Knights will play Marywood at 9 a.m. local time in Florida, and will then face LaRoche in the night game later in the day.
