Baseball Runs Win Streak to Three against Crown
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC baseball team won its third game in a row in a 17-0 win over Crown on Friday at Mueller Park.
The Knights batted around in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead on RBI from Jake Ziel, Andrew Nemmers, Tyler Dorn and Ben Edmundson.
Joe Blum would make those runs stick, holding the Storm to just three hits in seven innings to improved to 1-5 on the season, and throw the second shutout for the Knights in the last three games.
While Blum was mowing down the Crown line-up, the Knights continued to pour on the offense. Andrew Nemmers hit his first career home run in the third inning to help the Knights score three int he in the inning, while Galen Holzhueter led a seven-run fourth inning with a pair of triples, scoring one run himself and batting in two more in the inning.
For the game, MLC outhit Crown 16-3, with Nemmers leading the way with three hits, threes runs scored and three runs batted in.
With the win, MLC improved to 4-19 overall and 2-11 in the UMAC, while Crown dropped to 1-16 on the season and 1-12 in league play.
These two teams will continue the three-game series on Monday, April 23, at Mueller Park. The game was originally scheduled to be played tomorrow (Saturday, April 21), but has been moved to the 23rd because of inclement weather in Saturday's forecast. The first game is on Monday is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
