Eagles Pull Away in Second Half
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The MLC men's basketball team trailed by seven at the half, but was unable to stop Northwestern in the second half in an 81-58 loss in the first round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament Wednesday night.
The Knights hung tough in the first half, shooting 45.2 percent from the floor on the way to a seven-point halftime deficit at 41-34. Greg Holzhueter helped keep the Knights in the game with 13 points in the half.
The Eagles pulled away in the second half, however, holding the Knights to just 29 percent shooting from the field while shooting 62.5 percent from the field while they were on offense.
For the game, Northwestern shot 56.4 percent from the floor, and also went 10-19 from beyond the three-point arc, while MLC went 4-18 from downtown.
Holzhueter finished with a team-high 18 points for the game, while Justin Danell added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Wade Chitwood led the Eagles with a game-high 24 points on 10-15 shooting.
With the loss, the Knights finished the season at 8-17, while Northwestern improved to 20-6.
