Galen Holzhueter Named First Team All-UMAC
ST. PAUL - MLC men's basketball player Galen Holzhueter was named First Team All-UMAC Wednesday.
Holzhueter finished second in the UMAC in points per game (18.2) and seventh in rebounds per game (6.7). He also finished second in the conference in field goals (183), and ranked fifth in free throws (78) on the season.
The junior forward received Second Team All-UMAC consideration last season as a sophomore, and put his name in the MLC record books this season when he became the ninth MLC player to score 1,000 points in his career. Holzhueter currently ranks fifth in school history with 1,192 career points, and also ranks fourth in MLC history in rebounds for his career (475).
Holzhueter also became the first UMAC player to be named First Team All-UMAC in football and basketball in the same season since MLC's Caleb Free back in 2008-09.
Senior post player Josh Danell was named the MLC recipient of the Sportsmanship Award, which goes to one player on each team in the conference who best exhibits sportsmanship.
