Holzhueter Named First Team All-UMAC
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior guard Greg Holzhueter (Mankato, Minn./MVL) was named First Team All-UMAC for his play on the men’s basketball team this season. Teammate Ryan Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./WISCO) was named Honorable Mention All-UMAC.
Holzhueter finished the season as the leading scorer in the conference at 15.9 points per game for the season, and finished second in the conference with 15.6 points per game in conference match-ups.
Holzhueter also led the UMAC in free throws made during in conference games with 79, and ranked third in assist/turnover ratio (2.3), fourth in free throw percentage (.806), sixth in minutes played per game (31.6) and eighth in assists (3.3) in conference play. This marks the second consecutive season that Holzhueter has been named First Team All-UMAC.
Kolander had some of his statistics brought down due to a mid-season injury, but did much of his work on the glass for the Knights. He finished sixth in the UMAC during conference play in rebounds per game (5.8), and especially excelled on the offensive glass, where he ranked second in offensive rebounds per game (2.5). He finished the conference season with an average of 8.5 points per game, and also finished in the top 15 in the conference in free throw percentage (.650), field goal percentage (.471), blocks per game (0.4) and steals per game (1.4).
