Knights Can't Slow Bethel in Loss
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The MLC men's basketball team was unable to protect the ball or slow down Bethel in an 90-58 loss Saturday afternoon.
The Knights fell behind from the beginning and led only once all game after Justin Danell (New Ulm, Minn./MVL) hit a three-pointer to put MLC ahead 3-2. Bethel would soon take the lead and built it as high to 19 points at 47-28 at the half.
MLC was able to muster just 20 shots in the half, compared to Bethel's 34, because of 13 turnovers and went 8-20. Bethel made 20 of its 34 attempts.
The second half featured more of the same for the Knights, who were never able to get the score below double figures the rest of the way. They cut down on the turnovers, but were unable to stop Bethel on the other end, as they shot 54.5 percent for the second half.
Greg Holzhueter (Mankato, Minn./MVL) was the lone MLC player in double figures with 16 points. Nathan Bauer (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside) added nine points, while Ryan Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./WISCO) had eight.
With the loss, the Knights dropped to 1-6 on the season, while Bethel improved to 5-3.
MLC will return to action on Monday, December 14, when it travels to Macalester for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
