Knights Run Away From Rams for Third Straight Win
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's basketball team overcame a halftime deficit by outscoring North Central by 20 points to beat the Rams 84-65 Tuesday night.
The Knights' backcourt duo of Nathan Bauer and Greg Holzhueter combined for 46 points, with Bauer setting a new career high with 27 points, and Holzhueter scoring 19 on 6-8 shooting. Both also added five assists.
The Knights also got needed energy from the frontcourt, with Josh Danell scoring 12 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and blocking four shots in his first start of the season in 36 minutes of action. Galen Holzhueter added ten points, while Scott Henrich came off the bench for six points, and also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
The Knights trailed the Rams 34-33 at the break, and found themselves tied at 58-58 with 9:16 to play, but outscored NCU 26-7 the rest of the way, holding the Rams without a field goal for the remainder of the game.
With the win, MLC improved to 3-11 on the season, while NCU fell to 7-10.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, January 28, when they travel to Northwestern for a double header of men’s and women’s basketball starting at 5:30 p.m., with the men beginning around 7:30 p.m.
