Men Start Season with Loss to Carthage
WAUKESHA, Wis. - The MLC men's basketball team started the season with an 82-51 loss to Carthage Friday night at Carroll University.
The Knights knew they were in for a tough game when Carthage beat Division I Northern Illinois in a preseason game, and fell behind 43-23 going into the half.
Carthage continued to overmatch the Knights in the second half, building a lead that reached 44 points before the Knights played well in the final ten minutes to cut the final margin to 31 points.
Josh Danell and Ben Edmundson each had ten points for MLC, while Danell and Galen Holzhueter led the team with five rebounds each. Joe Lindloff had a team-high four assists to go with seven points.
Carthage shot 49.2 percent from the field for the game, compared to 32.8 percent for the Knights. Carthage also forced 19 MLC turnovers.
MLC dropped to 0-1 on the season after the loss, while Carthage improved to 1-0.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, November 19) at Carroll University with a game starting at 1 p.m.
