MLC Men Fall 81-71 to Marian
WAUKESHA, Wis. - The MLC men's basketball team dropped its second game of a weekend tournament at Carroll University by the score of 81-71 to Marian University.
The two teams were tied at 30-30 late in the first half, but a 9-2 run by Marian to end the half gave them a 39-32 lead at the break.
MLC was never able to cut the deficit inside of five in the second half, while Marian was able to build the lead as high as 19 on the way to the ten-point win.
Galen Holzhueter was main offensive threat on the day for the Knights, scoring 24 points on 9-13 shooting and grabbing seven rebounds before fouling out. Justin Danell scored 12 points and added 12 rebounds.
The Knights controlled the glass, outrebounding Marian 41-35, but were outscored 32-20 in the paint.
Marian shot 50 percent for the game, and was able to execute well in the second half by shoointg 55.6 percent from the field. MLC shot 42.9 percent for the game, and also turned the ball over 17 times.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-2, while Marian improved to 1-2.
MLC will return to action on Monday, November 28, when it hosts Waldorf at 7:30 p.m.
