MLC Men Lose Shootout at Crown
ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team lost a high-scoring affair at Crown College Saturday by the score of 92-84.
Both teams were efficient on the offensive end, with the Knights shooting 53.3 percent from the floor while Crown shot 52.9 percent. The two teams also took care of the ball, combining for only 21 turnovers in the game.
The two teams traded the lead several times in the first half before the Storm was able to take control late in the half on the way to a 43-42 halftime lead.
Crown started the second half strong with a 17-4 run to push the lead into double digits, forcing the Knights to play from behind the rest of the way and earning the eight-point win.
MLC finished with four players in double figures, led by Galen Holzhueter's 26 points on 11-20 shooting from the field. Luke Rothe finished with 21 points to go with eight assists and seven rebounds, while Mike Paulsen and Todd Brassow joined them in double figures with 14 and ten points, apiece.
MLC fell to 4-14 overall and 3-4 in the UMAC with the loss, while Crown improved to 8-10 on the season and 5-2 in league play with the win.,p>The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, February 4, when they travel to Bethany Lutheran for a 7:30 p.m. game.
