Presentation Tops Knights 76-65
ABERDEEN, S.D. - The MLC men's basketball team struggled on the offensive end in a 76-65 loss at Presentation Friday.
The Knights shot 35.7 percent from the floor in the first half and 41.7 percent in the second half, finishing 20-52 for the game. Presentation finished the night making 49 percent of their shots from the floor, including 46.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Ryan Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./WISCO) led the Knights with 16 points and seven rebounds before fouling out in the final minutes, while Greg Holzhueter (Mankato, Minn./MVL) added 14 points and six assists. Justin Danell (New Ulm, Minn./MVL) and Jared Matthies (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside) added nine and eight points, respectively.
MLC trailed most of the game, managing to tie the score twice in the first half before going into the half trailing by six at 34-28. The Saints took control in the second half, taking a double-digit lead four minutes after halftime and building it as high as 16 midway through the second.
The Knights made a late comeback in the second half when two Holzhueter free throws cut the deficit to four points with just under six minutes to play at 60-56, but the Saints responded by running off nine straight points to build the lead back up to 13 on their way to the win.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-3 for the season and 0-1 in UMAC play. They will return to the court tomorrow (Dec. 5), when they travel to UM-Morris for a 5 p.m. game.[BOX SCORE]
