Holzhueter Named First Team All-UMAC

ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College senior Galen Holzhueter was named First Team All-UMAC in men's basketball, while Luke Rothe received honorable mention Wednesday.

Galen Holzhueter was named First Team All-UMAC for the third consecutive season

Holzhueter received first team recognition for the third consecutive season after leading the conference in points (20.5) and rebounds (8.2) per game. In conference play, Holzhueter picked up his game to average 21.4 points per game on 50.7 percent shooting from the field, and also improved his rebounds per game average to 8.8.

Holzhueter also logged more minutes than any player in the UMAC, averaging 39.0 minutes per game in league play and playing in 546 of a possible 575 minutes during those games.

Along with becoming the second player in program history to record at least 500 points in a single season, Holzhueter finished his MLC career as the school's all-time leader in career points (1,704), rebounds (680), field goals (671) and free throws (339).

Rothe received honorable mention after a strong conference campaign in which he led the UMAC in assists with 93. For the season, Rothe finished with an MLC single-season record 137 assists.

After a tough start to the season as a scorer, Rothe bumped his shooting percentage to 44.4 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc in conference play, and his full season scoring average of 13.5 points per game was sixth-best in the conference.

Junior Craig Wilke was named the MLC recipient of the Sportsmanship award, given to one player on each to who best exemplifies sportsmanship throughout the season.
