Three Knights Take Home All-UMAC Honors
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Men’s basketball player Greg Holzhueter was named First Team All-UMAC for the third consecutive season, and was also named to the UMAC All-Defense team Thursday. Nate Bauer received Honorable Mention All-UMAC honors, while Galen Holzhueter was named UMAC Freshman of the Year.
Greg Holzhueter finished the season tied for fifth in the conference in points per game (14.9) during league play, and finished second in assists per game (5.1) and steals per game (2.5). He also finished in the top ten in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.457) and free throw percentage (.797). This season, Holzhueter set new MLC career records for assists, steals, and free throws made, and became the eighth player in school history to score 1,000 points for his career.
Bauer received honorable mention all-conference honors after finishing tenth in the UMAC with an average of 13.6 points per game. Bauer also averaged 4.4 assists per game, which was good for fourth in the conference, while his assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 was fifth best in the UMAC. Over the entire season, Bauer finished with the most points (324) and assists (87) on the team.
Galen Holzhueter was named the league’s top freshman after averaging 14.9 points per game during the conference season, fifth best in the conference. He also finished in the top ten in the conference in rebounds per game (5.7) and free throw percentage (.750), and showed consistency throughout the season by scoring in double figures in 13 of the team’s 14 conference games.
