Men's Cross Country Picked Sixth in Preseason Poll
ST. PAUL - The MLC men's cross country team was picked to finish sixth in the UMAC preseason poll released Friday.
The Knights lost a pair of senior captains from last season, but hope to improve from last season’s seventh place finish at the UMAC Championships.
Noah Willitz was the team’s top runner a season ago, and returns for his sophomore season with hopes of running his way into being an All-UMAC performer in 2012. He will be joined by a cast of returning runners, led by junior Ben Birner and sophomore Nate Plocher.
A strong group of newcomers this season will be led by Grey Davis, a two-time conference champion from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Wisconsin.
St. Scholastica finished first in the poll with 44 points and three first place votes. Minnesota, Morris and Norhtland finished second and third with 42 and 38 points, respectively.
