Rothe Named Offensive Player of the Week
ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College quarterback Luke Rothe was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week in football for his performance in MLC's 68-51 win over Iowa Wesleyan.
Rothe finished the game with 440 total yards and seven total touchdowns to lead the MLC offense. He ran the ball 30 times for 257 yards and three touchdowns, and also completed nine of 13 passes for 183 yards and four scores. His 257 rushing yards were the second most in a single game in MLC history.
Rothe also displayed his versatility in the game, punting twice for 36.0 yards per punt, and making an impact on defense with two tackles and one pass break-up.
For the season, Rothe has been responsible for 124 points, the most of any player in the nation, thanks to 11 touchdowns passing, seven touchdowns rushing, and eight two-point conversions.
This is the second time this season Rothe was named Offensive Player of the Week in the conference, having previously won it after the season opener against Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
Rothe and the Knights host Eureka on Saturday, October 12, at 1 p.m.
