Big Start Pushes Knights to Win

NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team closed out its season with a 7-1 win over Presentation aided by three goals in the first six minutes.

The Knights jumped on top just 3:04 into the game on a John Paustian goal off a pass from Ben Schone, and then scored twice more on goals from Kaleb Buch and Paustian a second time, both assisted by Levi Dunsmoor. The two goals gave Paustian six on the season, while Buch's was his seventh.

MLC continued to pour it on in the first half, scoring three more times. Andy Danner scored his second goal of the season in the 27th minute, while Justin Pomije and David Roekle both scored their first of the season in the 31st and 45th minutes, respectively.

MLC's final goal came from Joey Molyneaux, who scored his first of the season in the 75th minute.

The Knights dominated play for most of the contest, outshooting the Saints 34-16, with many of Presentation's shots coming from the outside. MLC keeper Taylor Traeder stopped nine of the ten shots on net to pick up the win.

With the win, MLC closed the season 7-10-2 overall and 4-8-2 in the UMAC, putting them in sixth place in the conference. Presentation dropped to 6-13 on the season and 4-10 in conference with the loss.
