The Knights allowed 32 shots for the Cougars, but they kept most of those opportunities on the outside. Eric Hahn stopped 13 of the 16 shots he faced in goal for MLC.

Matt Vik scored the first goal of the game for UMM off a corner kick, but Kaleb Buch struck right back in the 24th minute, forcing a turnover and beating the UMM defense for an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was Buch's third of the season.

The Cougars took the lead in the 31st minute when Ebrima Badgie scored off a breakaway. After a stretch where neither team scored, UMM put the game away with a goal from Matthew Bennis in the 74th minute to give UMM the final 3-1 margin.

MLC dropped to 2-10 on the season and 1-7 in UMAC play, while UMM improved to 9-5-1 overall and 8-1 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 13, when they travel to Crown for a match scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
