Knights Shutout against Gustavus
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team lost 3-0 to Gustavus in the home opener Tuesday.
The Knights fell behind 1-0 in the ninth minute of play, but kept the deficit at one the rest of the first half.
The Gusties were able to add to their lead early in the second half, however, scoring in the 51st and 60th minute of play.
Gustavus outshot MLC 34-4 for the game, including a 17-2 edge in shots on goal.
Ben Zietlow was able to keep the game close for MLC, saving 14 of the 17 shots he faced. Ben Nommensen and Ryan Lemke accounted for the two shots on goal for the Knights.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-2 on the season, while the Gusties improved to 3-0.
The Knights will return to action on Thursday, September 8, when they travel to Buena Vista for a double header starting at 3 p.m.
