Late Comeback Not Enough in Loss to WLC
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team fell behind by four goals, and were not able to come back all the way in a 4-3 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran College Sunday.
The Knights trailed by four goals before the 70th minute, but started to chip away when John Paustian scored off a pass from David Roekle in the 74th minute.
Kaleb Buch then took over for the Knights, scoring twice from outside the box in less than a minute in the 82nd and 83rd minutes of play, giving him three goals on the season and cutting the deficit to just one goal, but the Warriors held on the rest of the way for the win.
WLC outshot MLC 26-23 overall and 17-14 on goal. Ben Zietlow finished with ten saves before being lifted late in the game. Kaleb Buch led the Knights with nine shots, six of which were on goal.
MLC dropped to 0-4 on the season with the loss, while WLC improved to 2-2.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 16, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a 2 p.m. game.
