Men Lose in Overtime
NEW ULM, Minn. - After starting off the homecoming weekend with a win, MLC's men's soccer team fell just short in an upset attempt Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to UM-Morris.
Ryan Lemke broke a scoreless tie in the 37th minute of play, cashing in a corner kick from Steve White for his third goal of the season, allowing the Knights to take a 1-0 lead into the half.
The Cougars pressured the Knights throughout the second half, and broke through with a goal by Toby Glaser in the 82nd minute, sending the game to overtime.
In overtime, Michael Schuweiler scored the game-winner for UMM in the 97th minute to win the game for UMM.
Ben Zietlow saved 13 of the 15 shots on the MLC goal, while Nathan Gurgel had a team-best three shots.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the UMAC, while the Cougars improved to 5-3-2 on the season and 5-1 in league play.
MLC will return to action Tuesday, October 4, when it travels to North Central for a game starting at 6 p.m.
