ST. PAUL, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in the UMAC preseason poll released by the conference Wednesday afternoon.

Men's Soccer Picked Seventh in Preseason Poll

Micah Koelpin returns on defense for the Knights in 2013

The Knights finished last season with a record of 3-15 overall and 2-12, but return a number of key players from that team in the hopes that many of those close losses can be turned into wins in 2013.

All-UMAC performer Steve Roekle returns in the midfield, while Ryan Lemke will lead the forwards after scoring five goals a season ago.

Dave Roekle, Chris Krug and Micah Koelpin will lead the defense after gaining experience a year ago, while senior goalkeeper Eric Hahn also returns after finishing in the top half of the conference in most statistical categories in 2012.

The Knights finished the poll with 17 points, one behind sixth place finisher North Central.

St. Scholastica finished first in the poll with all seven possible first place votes and 49 total points. Minnesota Morris was second with 43 points, while Bethany Lutheran and Northwestern tied for third with 34 points.
