Men Shut Out Lumberjacks
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team shut out an opponent for the second time this season in a 3-0 win over Northland College Saturday afternoon at Knight Field.
The Knights hit the ground running and took the lead early when Levi Dunsmoor scored to give the Knights a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, his first of the season.
One minute later, the Knights got another one when Ryan Lemke took a cross from Justin Pomije and fired it home. The goal was Lemkeās second this season.
The Knights went into the half with a 2-0 advantage. Two minutes into the second half Kaleb Buch got on the score-sheet with his first goal of the season to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
The Knights kept the ball on the Lumberjacks side of the field for much of the game, holding the Lumberjacks to only 3 shots on goal, while the Knights were able to get 11 shots on the keeper.
The Knights improved to 2-2 with a 1-1 conference record with the win. The Lumberjacks fall to 1-6 with a 0-3 conference record.
The Knights will play next on Tuesday (September 21) when they travel to North Central to take on the Rams. The game is scheduled to begin at around 6 p.m.
