MLC Falters Early at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team fell behind big early at St. Scholastica and never came back in a 10-1 loss to the Saints Friday afternoon.
The Saints scored in the third minute of play, and scored twice more in the first eight minutes to take command of the game.
Ryan Lemke was able to get the Knights on the board in the 31st minute on an unassisted goal, but that would all be the offense the Knights could get, as the Saints took a 6-1 lead at the half, and scored four more times in the second half.
Ben Zietlow played the first half in goal, saving eight shots and allowing six goals. For the game, MLC was outshot 32-9 overall and 20-7 on goal.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the UMAC, while CSS improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 17) at Northland. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
