MLC Men Fall 5-2 to UMM
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team lost its first conference home game of the season by the score of 5-2 to Minnesota Morris Friday.
The Knights fell behind 3-0 after the half, with the Cougars outshooting the Knights 19-4 in the half.
MLC played better in the second half, as Ryan Lemke scored on a penalty kick in the 60th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Cougars would add a pair of insurance goals before the Knights picked up their second goal of the day, this one from Jacob Zietlow in the 78th minute, which closed out the scoring.
Eric Hahn stopped 14 of the 19 shots he face in goal for MLC, nine of which came in the first half.
The Knights finished with 12 shots in the second half compared to 13 for UMM, with Stephen Roekle leading the way with four for MLC.
MLC dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the UMAC with the loss, while UMM improved to 3-6 on the season and 2-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 28) when they host Crown for a game scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
