MLC Men Lose 2-0 to UNW
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to generate a goal in a tightly contested 2-0 loss to Northwestern Saturday.
The Knights had the better of their chances in the first half when they played with the help of a strong wind, attempting nine shots and putting three on the goal, but were unable to push anything across the goal line.
The Eagles finally broke open the scoreless tie in the 76th minute on a goal from Sean Taylor.
As the Knights pressed late in the game to try to generate offense, Taylor scored his second of the game in the 88th minute, giving the Eagles the insurance tally they were looking for and the two-goal win.
Eric Hahn stopped seven of the nine shots he faced in net for MLC, while Ryan Lemke finished with a team-high three shots (two on goal).
MLC dropped to 4-13 on the season and 3-9 in the UMAC with the loss, while UNW improved to 9-9 overall and 9-3 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action Friday, October 31, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a game scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
