Six MLC Players Score in Men's Soccer Win
ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team finished its regular season with a 6-1 win at Northland College Saturday afternoon.
The Knights jumped out to a big lead early, and Isaiah Horn as Aaron Markgraf scored to put the Knights up 2-0, and Wesley Towne added his first career goal in the 37th minute to close a strong first half with MLC ahead 3-0. Horn's goal was his second on the season, while Markgraf's was his sixth.
Nathan Graumann scored his third goal of the season to put MLC ahead 4-0 early in the second half before the Lumberjacks could get a goal to cut the lead to 4-1, but Ryan Lemke and Pedro Gonzalez tacked on insurance goals in the 66th and 74th minutes to put the game away. Lemke's goal set a new career high with eight on the season, while Gonzalez's was the first of his college career in his final game.
Graumann also added an assist in the game, with Stephen Roekle, Micah Koelpin and Ethan Boese also adding helpers.
MLC dominated play throughout, outshooting the Lumberjacks 26-11 overall and 13-6 on goal. Lemke paced the Knights with six shots, while Eric Hahn stopped five of the six shots he faced in net for the Knights.
The Knights concluded their season with a record of 5-14 overall and 4-10 in the UMAC with the win, while Northland dropped to 4-15-1 on the season and 2-11-1 in league play in defeat.
