NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team held a three-goal lead at halftime, but ended up with a 6-3 loss to Crown Thursday afternoon.

Nathan Gurgel had two goals in MLC's 6-3 loss to Crown

The Knights were outshot 18-9 in the first half, but were in firm control of the game with a 3-0 lead. Ben Nommensen scored just 23 seconds in the game to give the Knights a 1-0 lead, while Nathan Gurgel scored twice in the first half to push the lead to 3-0 heading into the break.

The Storm scored in the first minute of the second half, and pressured MLC into mistakes defensively, tying the game in the 66th minute, and taking the lead in the 74th minute. After taking the lead, the Storm kept its momentum, scoring twice more to give them the final margin of victory.

MLC was outshot 37-11 for the game, with 17 Crown shots on goal. Ben Zietlow finished with ten saves in goal for the Knights.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the UMAC, while Crown improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference action.

MLC will return to action on Saturday, September 24, when it hosts Northwestern for a double header scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
