NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's tennis team played well in doubles, but fell short in singles in a 7-2 loss to Northwestern Tuesday.

The Knights took one of the three doubles matches, as the team of Marty Johnston and Tom Gorzalski won the number three doubles match by the score of 8-6. The other two teams played close matches, but fell just short by the scores of 9-7 and 8-6.

The Eagles took control in singles, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Micah Koelpin was the only MLC player to win his match, winning the number six singles contest in straight sets 6-0 and 6-4.

MLC will return to the courts on Thursday, April 18, when it hosts North Central.
