Men Sweep UMM in Final Match before UMAC Tournament
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's tennis team won its final regular season match of the season by the score of 9-0 against Minnesota-Morris Tuesday.
The win was MLC's fourth consecutive conference win by the score of 9-0 to close the season after starting the UMAC schedule 2-4. The Knights clinched a spot in the UMAC Postseason Tournament with last night's win over Bethany Lutheran, and finished the conference in third place with a league record of 6-4.
The Knights swept the three doubles matches, with the top team of Scott Henrich and Paul Koester rallying from behind to win their match 9-7 to ensure the sweep.
Five of the six singles matches ended in straight sets, while number four singles player Jordan Bence came back after losing the second set to win the third set.
MLC finished the season 6-5 overall to go along with its 6-4 conference record, while UMM fell to 3-6 overall and in conference with the loss.
The Knights will play second-seeded Northwestern Friday night at 8:30 in the opening round of the conference tournament.
