MLC Men Make UMAC Championships with Win

FRIDLEY, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team clinched a spot in the UMAC postseason tournament with a 7-2 win against North Central on Wednesday at Lifetime Fitness Center.

MLC started the scoring by taking two of the three doubles matches, with the teams of Jordan Bench/Marty Johnston (8-6) and Philip Schroeder/Justin Marshall (8-1) bringing home a point apiece.

The Knights completed the win by taking five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets. Each player from 2-6 in the singles line-up won their match.

MLC finished the regular season 3-9 overall and 3-7 in UMAC play, good enough for a tie for fourth place in the final conference standings. NCU fell to 0-10 overall and in league play in defeat.

The Knights won the tie-breaker over UM-Morris for the final spot in the tournament, and will face St. Scholastica in the first round of the event on Friday, May 2, at Baseline Tennis Center.
