Greg Diersen is about to begin his first season running the MLC track and field program

Diersen, who was called to serve at MLC as a Professor of Science, takes over the program from former coach Doug Lange, who has remained on the staff as an assistant coach.

Diersen has 16 years of experience coaching track at Great Plains Lutheran High School, where he also coached cross country for 13 years. During his time at GPLHS, Diersen was named area Coach of the Year twice in cross country and once more in track. He also saw his women’s program win the regional championship in track twice, while the men won the regional title six times. He also won seven combined regional championships in cross country.

This season, Diersen will be running an MLC program with some of the best depth the program has seen in several years, with a number of returning athletes who finished well at the UMAC Outdoor Championships last May.

The Knights open the season at Buena Vista on Saturday, April 6, and will head to Gustavus Adolphus the following week.
