Men's Track Finishes Third at UMAC Outdoor Championships
MORRIS, Minn. – The MLC men’s track team finished third at the UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Minnesota-Morris Saturday.
The Knights had three athletes finish first in their events in Jacob Steinmetz (Triple Jump), Todd Brassow (High Jump) and John Wildauer (400 Meters).
Steinmetz finished the day with three top three finishes. He won the Triple Jump with a jump of 23.02 meters, and also finished third in both the Long Jump and 200 Meters.
Brassow, the school record holder in the High Jump at 1.98 meters, set a new UMAC Outdoor Championships record with a jump of 1.94 meters.
Wildauer finished first in the 400 Meters with a time of 51.94, giving him two first place finishes at the event in the last two years. He finished first in the Javelin Throw in 2012.
Elsewhere at the field events, Philip Loescher finished third in the Javelin Throw, giving him three straight top three finishes in the event in the last three years. Jarrod Pfarr placed in the both the Triple Jump (fifth) and Long Jump (sixth), while Scott Zietlow took fourth in the Pole Vault.
In the running events, Noah Willitz finished third in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Matt Hatzung (100 Meters), Isaac Pappenfuss (400 Meters), and Grey Davis (1500 Meters and 800 Meters) each took home sixth place finishes in their events.
MLC finished third in the team competition with 82 points. St. Scholastica finished first in the team competition with a total of 285.5 points.
