Bench Pushes Knights past Rams
NEW ULM, Minn. – The MLC women’s basketball team overcame a tough shooting night with a strong effort on defense and on the glass, and a great effort from the bench to beat North Central 58-52 Tuesday night.
The MLC bench contributed 28 of the Knights’ 58 points for the game, led by Kadie Drake’s 12 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.
The Knights outrebounded the Rams 48-43 for the game, and 20-13 on the offensive end, leading to a 16-4 edge in second chance points in the game.
Neither team shot the ball well from the field, as the Knights finished shooting 35.1 percent for the game, while the Rams shot 34.5 percent. MLC also forced 23 NCU turnovers.
Erica Babinec finished with a team-high 15 points for MLC, and also added a game-high 11 rebounds. Amanda Burk added 11 points and seven rebounds. Sarah Free had a game-high seven assists.
With the win, MLC improved to 4-10 on the season, while NCU fell to 4-11.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, January 28, when they travel to Northwestern for a double header of men’s and women’s basketball starting at 5:30 p.m.
