Knights Set Record with Seventh Straight
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's basketball team set a new school record with its seventh straight win by beating Northwestern 71-44 Friday night.
The Knights dominated much of the game, shooting 43.8 percent from the field while holding Northwestern to 38 percent shooting and forcing 21 turnovers.
NWC jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead, but the Knights quickly recovered, outscoring the Eagles 37-11 the rest of the half to take a 38-17 halftime lead.
MLC was sharp to start the second half, building the lead early to as high as 34 points before cruising to the 27-point win.
Amanda Burk led the Knights down low, scoring a game-high 19 points and grabbing ten points to collect her third straight double-double.
On the perimeter, Erica Babinec scored 11 points, while Alex Anthon six points and a team-best five assists. MLC finished with 18 assists on 28 made field goals in the game.
With the win, MLC improved to 12-5 on the season and 6-0 in the UMAC, while Northwestern dropped to 5-12 and 2-4 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, January 28, when it hosts Crown for a game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
