NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's basketball team lost 102-57 to Northwestern (Iowa) Saturday afternoon.

Hannah Hackbarth tied a career high with 23 points in a loss to Northwestern (IA)

The Knights fell behind big early in the game, struggling with the Red Raiders' pressure defense on the way to an 18.5 field goal percentage and 14 turnovers in the first half. Defensively, the Red Raiders moved the ball well as they shot 55.3 percent from the field on the way to taking a 50-15 halftime lead.

MLC came out stronger offensively in the second half, shooting 40 percent from the field and scoring 42 points in the half, but it was unable slow down NWC as it shot 66.7 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc on the way to beating the Knights.

Hannah Hackbarth led MLC with 23 points, tying her previous career high. Brittney Gossen joined her in double figures with 12 points.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-7 on the season, while Northwestern improved to 9-3 with the win.

MLC will return to action on Monday, December 10, when it travels to Dordt. The game starts at 7 p.m.
