Waldorf Edges MLC Women 69-62
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The MLC women's basketball team was unable to slow down a hot-shooting Waldorf team in the second half in a 69-62 loss Monday night.
MLC got the better of a defensive struggle in the first half, leading 26-25 at the break after holding the Warriors to 32.3 percent shooting. Brittney Gossen led MLC with eight points through the first 20 minutes.
Waldorf would pick things up from the outside in the second half, shooting 15-31 (48.4 percent) from the field overall and 6-11 (54.5 percent) from beyond the three-point line.
Alex Anthon helped the Knights stay in the game, scoring 17 points in the second half alone on 7-9 shooting from the field, but it would not be enough to take down the Warriors down the stretch.
Anthon led four MLC players in double figures with a game-high 22 points. Rebecca Engelbrecht finished with her first career double-double, scoring ten points and grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds. Hannah Hackbarth and Gossen finished with 11 and ten points, respectively.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-5 on the season, while Waldorf improved to 8-4 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Thursday, December 6, when it hosts Buena Vista. The game starts at 7 p.m.
