Women Dominate North Central
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's basketball team took control early and dominated throughout in a 90-65 win over North Central.
The Knights built a double-digit lead midway through the first half, and finished the half with an 18-point lead at 50-32.
The second half brought more of the same for the Knights, who saw the lead get as 35 points before cruising to the final winning margin of 25 points.
11 different players scored for the Knights, who shot 43.4 percent from the field, but went 8-18 from beyond the three-point line and 16-25 from the free throw line.
Amanda Burk led the way for MLC with 16 points, while Erica Babinec and Brittney Gossen each had 13 points. Babinec also grabbed seven rebounds, while Gossen had a game-high five assists.
The bench played a big role in the win for the Knights, scoring 39 points. Hannah Hackbarth and Heather Danell led the reserves with seven points apiece, while Sarah Free added eight.
With the win, MLC improved to 5-3 on the season, while North Central dropped to 2-6.
MLC will return to action on Monday, December 12, when it hosts Dubuque for a game scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
