Women Lose by Twelve at Dakota State
MADISON, S.D. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to overcome a large first half deficit in a 74-62 loss at Dakota State Saturday night.
The Knights struggled on the offensive end throughout the first half, making just six of their 41 attempts from the field as no one was able to get it going as DSU took a 41-19 edge into the break.
MLC started to turn things around offensively in the second half and made 13 of 14 attempts from the free throw line after the break, but were never able to get all the way back into the game in the final 12-point defeat.
Erin Schmeling finished as the leading scorer for MLC with 12 points, while Leah Nass started slowly but finished with ten points to go with her game-high 14 rebounds.
MLC dropped to 3-6 on the season with the loss, whle Dakota State improved to 6-7 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Thursday, December 19, when they host Dordt for a game scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
