Women Open Season with Win
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The MLC women's basketball team started the season strong with a 94-85 win at Waldorf Wednesday night.
MLC took an four-point halftime lead at 42-38 after a back-and-forth pace to start the game. Erica Babinec led all scorers at the half with 16 points, while Amanda Burk came off the bench to score ten and grab eight rebounds.
The Knights took control in the second half, leading all but two minutes of the half, and building a lead as high as 14 points.
MLC put four players in double figures, led by Babinec's game-high 27 points on 6-12 shooting from the field and 13-15 shooing from the charity stripe. Burk finished with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Sarah Free and Melissa Christensen each had 12 points.
The Knights finished with a big edge at the foul line, going 24-28 for the game, while Waldorf shot 18-31.
MLC will return to action on Friday, November 19, when it travels to Nebraska-Wesleyan for a two-day tournament. Friday's game will start at 8 p.m.
