ST. PAUL - The MLC women's cross country team was picked to finish third in the UMAC preseason poll released Friday.

MLC is dreaming big this season, as it returns the top nine runners from last season’s team that finished third place at the conference meet.

2011 All-UMAC performers Robin Nommensen and Emilee Koltz finished third and eighth, respectively, at the UMAC Championships last season, and return to lead the 2012 team. Amanda Walter, Julie Kent and Hannah Hackbarth lead the rest of the returning runners from last season to provide strong depth up and down the roster.

Brooke King leads a group of newcomers this season, and has a chance to be one of the top runners on the team this season.

St. Scholastica finished first in the poll with 47 points and five first place votes, while Minnesota, Morris took second with 45 total points and three first place votes. MLC had 35 total points in the poll.
