Early Goals Lead Eagles to Win over Knights
ST. PAUL - The MLC women's soccer team came up short in Thursday's game at Northwestern by the score of 2-1.
The Eagles scored twice in the first half, once in the 26th minute and once in the 31st minute, to take an early 2-0 lead.
Bethany Schultz was able to put the Knights on the board, scoring her fifth goal of the season unassisted in the 33rd minute of play on MLC's first shot of the game to cut the deficit to 2-1.
That lead would stand the rest of the game for Northwestern, as they peppered MLC goalkeeper Allison Snyder with 8 shots on goal, and outshot the Knights 19-2 in the game.
Miranda Pomije and Schultz accounted for the two shots by the Knights, both of which were on net.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 6-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the UMAC, while NWC improved to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, October 15, when it travels to Crown College for a soccer double header starting at 12 p.m.
