Alex Hastings scored three times in a win over Northland

Jenna Maurer scored the only goal of the first half in the 11th minute, but the Knights would pour on the offense in the second stanza.

Hastings scored in the 52nd minute, and Maurer quickly added her second of the day in the 55th minute to push the lead to 3-0.

Northland scored just over one minute after Maurer's goal to cut the lead to 3-1, but Hastings scored twice in 38 seconds in the 77th and 78th minutes, and Rachel Naumann added her first collegiate goal in the final minute to cap off the win.

The three goals from Hastings gave her six on the season, with all coming in conference play. Maurer's two goals give her a UMAC-best ten on the season, while Bethany Schultz added an assist on one of Hastings' goals.

Keely Keese and the MLC defense were strong throughout, with Keese saving nine shots and the defense forcing many of the Lumberjills' shots to come from outside the box.

MLC improved to 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the UMAC with the win, while Northland dropped to 5-4-2 overall and 1-4-1 in league play with the loss.

The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 5) when they host St. Scholastica. The game is this week's UMAC Game of the Week, and is scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m.
