Kenyon Sets Record in 9-0 Win
NEW ULM, Minn. - MLC freshman Linda Kenyon set an MLC record with five goals in her debut in MLC's 9-0 win over the Lakeland.
Kenyon scored all five goals in the first half in an eight minute span from the 33rd minute through the 41st minute, pushing a 1-0 MLC lead to a 6-0 game going into the half.
Kenyon wasn't the only freshman to make an impact early, as Alydia Lee also netted a hat trick, scoring in the game's 12th minute to put MLC on the board, and then twice in the second half. Heidi Heckmann scored the other goal for MLC in the second half.
Hannah Mattek and Hannah Janke each had two assists for MLC, while Bethany Schultz added one.
MLC outshot Lakeland 41-14 on the day, and 27-7 on goal. Allison Snyder came in during the first half in goal and stopped six shots.
The Knights not only scored three more goals in this game than they did in all of the 2009 season, but they also were able to pick up their first win at the new soccer complex at MLC.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, September 8, when they host Gustavus for a 5 p.m. tilt.
