Knights Lose 9-1 to NWC
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team was unable to slow down Northwestern in a 9-1 loss to the Eagles Friday.
The Knights allowed four gaols in the first 24 minutes of play, and allowed six total in the first half.
Bethany Schultz had the lone score for MLC, scoring from outside the box in the 24th minute to cut the NWC lead to 4-1. The goal was Schultz's eighth on the season.
The Eagles scored three more times in the second half, and controlled the play for much of the game. They outshot MLC 34-10 overall, and 18-5 on net.
Schultz led the Knights with four shots, three of which were on goal, while Linda Kenyon added three shots. Abigail Horn stopped five shots in the first half in goal, while Lindsay Sandwith had four saves in the second half, including a penalty kick ave late in the game.
MLC fell to 6-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference with the loss, while Northwestern improved to 6-6 on the season and 6-2 in the UMAC with the win.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (October 16) when they host Crown for a 2 p.m. game.
